Privacy Policy
Effective date: 15 October 2026 · Covers the SumGrid app (Android package com.sumgrid.app,
iOS bundle com.sumgrid.game) and the website sumgridgames.com, including the browser version of the game.
SumGrid is a puzzle game (Sudoku, Number Sums, Sum Sudoku and Kakuro) made by SumGrid Games (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app and the website handle and why. We keep it short because we collect very little.
1. Information that stays on your device
Your game progress, levels completed, statistics, streaks, saved games, settings and the optional name you type in the Account screen are stored only on your device: in the app's storage on your phone, or in your browser's local storage when you play on sumgridgames.com. We do not have servers that receive this data and we cannot see it. If you use “Copy backup”, a backup code is created on your device; it is only shared if you choose to paste or send it somewhere yourself. Uninstalling the app, or clearing your browser's site data, deletes this data.
2. You don’t need an account
SumGrid works without signing in. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, location or any other personal information.
3. Advertising in the app (Google AdMob)
The free version of the app shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, prevent fraud and improve its services, Google’s Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and process information such as:
- your device’s advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA, if you allow it) and other device identifiers;
- IP address and approximate (coarse) location derived from it;
- device and app information (model, operating system, app version, language);
- interactions with ads (views and taps) and diagnostic / performance data.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google’s consent tool; you can change your choice at any time in Account → About & privacy → Ad privacy choices. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads; on iOS you can decline tracking when asked, or later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience. If you buy SumGrid Pro, ads are turned off and the ads SDK no longer requests ads.
4. Advertising and cookies on the website (Google AdSense)
sumgridgames.com may show ads provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, to limit how often you see an ad, to measure ads and to prevent fraud. This can involve your IP address, browser and device information, and your interactions with ads.
- Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent banner before cookies are used for personalised ads. You can change your choice at any time with the privacy link the banner leaves on the page.
- You can turn off personalised ads from Google in Google Ads Settings, and learn more at how Google uses cookies in advertising.
- Google processes this information as an independent controller under the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
The website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google for that purpose. Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) for security and to keep the site running; we don't use them to identify you.
5. Notifications
If you allow notifications in the app, SumGrid schedules a daily reminder on your device. No information is sent to us to do this. You can turn reminders off in the app (Account → Daily reminder) or in your phone’s settings. The website does not send notifications.
6. Purchases
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment details.
7. Children
SumGrid is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will help.
8. Data sharing and selling
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with anyone, because we do not collect it. The third parties involved are Google (AdMob, AdSense, Google Fonts), our web host, and the app stores, as described above.
9. Security and retention
Data on your device is protected by your device’s own security. The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Information collected by Google is handled under Google’s policies and retention periods.
10. Your rights
Because your game data never leaves your device, you control it directly: you can delete it by uninstalling the app, clearing its storage, or clearing this site's data in your browser. For questions about data processed by Google, see the links above. You can also contact us with any privacy request.
11. Changes
We may update this policy when the app or website changes. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or on the website.
